GridFlex use case / U.S. commercial facilities

Controllable building systems for commercial facility managers.

GridFlex is planning software for teams responsible for HVAC, ventilation, lighting, pumps and other controllable building loads. Document the systems you manage and assess potential flexibility alongside the schedules and site constraints your team already knows.

Building load flexibility starts with site constraints.

Commercial building loads follow operating schedules and the needs of each site. Comfort, occupancy and critical operations can limit when or whether a system could change its load. Treat those constraints as part of any planning discussion.

Which building loads are controllable?

Start with systems such as heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting or pumps. Their presence in an inventory does not mean they are connected or available to change.

When do operating schedules allow room?

Compare operating hours with occupancy, comfort requirements and critical operations. A load may be controllable and still have little practical room to shift.

Which peak periods are worth assessing?

Potential peak-period flexibility can inform a demand-response conversation, subject to the site, its permissions, real integrations and program eligibility.

Document first, assess potential next

Prepare building assets for possible grid participation.

GridFlex helps teams organize building assets and assess where flexibility might exist before exploring a grid program. Peak-period flexibility and demand response are potential planning topics, not evidence of a connected building or an enrolled participant.

01

Register the system details you know

With a sign-in and active subscription, open your /dashboard inventory and choose “Controllable building system.” Asset name is required; Location, Capacity details, Manufacturer and Model are optional. Save the customer-entered record to your account inventory. Registration records asset details only: it does not request a protocol or integration configuration, or connect the system.

02

Assess possible peak-period flexibility

GridFlex planning software helps teams document building assets and assess their potential flexibility in preparation for possible grid participation. Peak-period load shifting or reduction can be a planning topic, not a measured or achieved result.

03

Check the conditions before participation

Demand-response participation would depend on real integrations, the right permissions, site constraints and program eligibility. Asset registration does not enroll a building or enable dispatch or control.

Illustrative ROI calculator

Test building-system assumptions and scenarios.

Use the existing calculator for illustrative scenario planning. Its estimate is not a live building assessment, savings forecast, revenue promise, peak-reduction result or guarantee of demand-response participation.

Free smart-meter audit

Start with the file your facility can export.

Submit a supported smart-meter CSV for a free initial estimate, with no account. It is a file-based review of the readings you provide; it does not create a live meter, utility, building-management or controls connection.

Clear about what is not connected

Planning does not mean a live building connection.

GridFlex does not currently provide live building, utility, vendor or meter connectivity; telemetry; automated dispatch or building control; or completed program enrollment. Registration stores only customer-entered asset details. Potential savings, revenue, peak reduction or demand-response participation would depend on real integrations, permissions, site constraints and program eligibility, and are never guaranteed by these planning tools.
